Jesus Heals a Man Born Blind

9As Jesus was walking along, he saw a man who had been blind from birth.G2532G3855G1492G444G5185G1537G1079 2"Rabbi," his disciples asked him, "why was this man born blind? Was it because of his own sins or his parents' sins?"G2532G846G3101G2065G846G3004G4461G5101G264G3778G2228G846G1118G2443G1080G5185 3"It was not because of his sins or his parents' sins," Jesus answered. "This happened so the power of God could be seen in him.G2424G611G3777G264G3778G264G3777G846G1118G235G2443G2041G2316G5319G1722G846 4We must quickly carry out the tasks assigned us by the one who sent us. The night is coming, and then no one can work.G1691G1163G2038G2041G3992G3165G2193G2076G2250G3571G2064G3753G3762G1410G2038 5But while I am here in the world, I am the light of the world."G3752G5600G1722G2889G1510G5457G2889 6Then he spit on the ground, made mud with the saliva, and spread the mud over the blind man's eyes.G5023G2036G4429G5476G2532G4160G4081G1537G4427G2532G2025G1909G3788G5185G4081 7He told him, "Go wash yourself in the pool of Siloam" . So the man went and washed and came back seeing!G2532G2036G846G5217G3538G1519G2861G4611G3739G2059G649G565G3767G2532G3538G2532G2064G991 8His neighbors and others who knew him as a blind beggar asked each other, "Isn't this the man who used to sit and beg?"G1069G3767G2532G4386G2334G846G3754G2258G5185G3004G2076G3756G3778G2521G2532G4319 9Some said he was, and others said, "No, he just looks like him!" But the beggar kept saying, "Yes, I am the same one!"G243G3004G3754G3778G2076G1161G243G3754G2076G3664G846G1565G3004G3754G1473G1510 10They asked, "Who healed you? What happened?"G3767G3004G846G4459G455G4675G3788G455 11He told them, "The man they call Jesus made mud and spread it over my eyes and told me, 'Go to the pool of Siloam and wash yourself.' So I went and washed, and now I can see!"G1565G611G2532G2036G444G3004G2424G4160G4081G2532G2025G3450G3788G2532G2036G3427G5217G1519G2861G4611G2532G3538G1161G565G2532G3538G308 12"Where is he now?" they asked. "I don't know," he replied.G3767G2036G846G4226G2076G1565G3004G1492G3756 13Then they took the man who had been blind to the Pharisees,G71G4314G5330G846G4218G5185 14because it was on the Sabbath that Jesus had made the mud and healed him.G1161G2258G4521G3753G2424G4160G4081G2532G455G846G3788 15The Pharisees asked the man all about it. So he told them, "He put the mud over my eyes, and when I washed it away, I could see!"G3767G3825G5330G2532G2065G846G4459G308G1161G2036G846G2007G4081G1909G3450G3788G2532G3538G2532G991 16Some of the Pharisees said, "This man Jesus is not from God, for he is working on the Sabbath." Others said, "But how could an ordinary sinner do such miraculous signs?" So there was a deep division of opinion among them.G3767G3004G5100G1537G5330G3778G444G2076G3756G3844G2316G3754G5083G3756G4521G243G3004G4459G1410G444G268G4160G5108G4592G2532G2258G4978G1722G846 17Then the Pharisees again questioned the man who had been blind and demanded, "What's your opinion about this man who healed you?" The man replied, "I think he must be a prophet."G3004G5185G3825G5101G3004G4771G4012G846G3754G455G4675G3788G2036G3754G1161G2076G4396 18The Jewish leaders still refused to believe the man had been blind and could now see, so they called in his parents.G3767G2453G4100G3756G4100G4012G846G3754G2258G5185G2532G308G2193G3755G5455G1118G846G308 19They asked them, "Is this your son? Was he born blind? If so, how can he now see?"G2532G2065G846G3004G2076G3778G5216G5207G3739G5210G3004G3754G1080G5185G4459G3767G991G737G991 20His parents replied, "We know this is our son and that he was born blind,G846G1118G611G846G2532G2036G1492G3754G3778G2076G2257G5207G2532G3754G1080G5185 21but we don't know how he can see or who healed him. Ask him. He is old enough to speak for himself."G1161G4459G991G3568G991G1492G3756G2228G5101G455G846G3788G2249G1492G3756G846G2192G2244G2065G846G846G2980G4012G848 22His parents said this because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders, who had announced that anyone saying Jesus was the Messiah would be expelled from the synagogue.G5023G2036G846G1118G3754G5399G2453G1063G2453G4934G2235G2443G1437G5100G3670G846G5547G1096G656 23That's why they said, "He is old enough. Ask him."G1223G5124G2036G846G1118G3754G2192G2244G2065G846 24So for the second time they called in the man who had been blind and told him, "God should get the glory for this, because we know this man Jesus is a sinner."G3767G1208G1537G5455G444G3739G2258G5185G2532G2036G846G1325G2316G1391G2249G1492G3754G3778G444G2076G268 25"I don't know whether he is a sinner," the man replied. "But I know this: I was blind, and now I can see!"G3767G1565G611G2532G2036G1487G2076G268G1492G3756G1520G1492G3754G5607G5185G737G991 26"But what did he do?" they asked. "How did he heal you?"G1161G2036G846G3825G5101G4160G4671G4459G455G4675G3788 27"Look!" the man exclaimed. "I told you once. Didn't you listen? Why do you want to hear it again? Do you want to become his disciples, too?"G611G846G2036G5213G2235G2532G191G3756G191G5101G2309G191G3825G3361G2309G5210G2532G1096G846G3101 28Then they cursed him and said, "You are his disciple, but we are disciples of Moses!G3767G3058G846G2532G2036G4771G1488G1565G3101G1161G2249G2070G3475G3101 29We know God spoke to Moses, but we don't even know where this man comes from."G2249G1492G3754G2316G2980G3475G1161G5126G1492G3756G4159G2076 30"Why, that's very strange!" the man replied. "He healed my eyes, and yet you don't know where he comes from?G444G611G2532G2036G846G1063G1722G5129G2076G2298G3754G5210G1492G3756G4159G2076G2532G455G3450G3788 31We know that God doesn't listen to sinners, but he is ready to hear those who worship him and do his will.G1161G1492G3754G2316G191G3756G268G235G1437G5100G5600G2318G2532G4160G846G2307G5127G191 32Ever since the world began, no one has been able to open the eyes of someone born blind.G1537G165G191G3756G191G3754G5100G455G3788G1080G5185 33If this man were not from God, he couldn't have done it."G1508G3778G2258G1508G3844G2316G1410G3756G4160G3762 34"You were born a total sinner!" they answered. "Are you trying to teach us?" And they threw him out of the synagogue.G611G2532G2036G846G4771G1080G3650G1080G1722G266G2532G4771G1321G2248G2532G1544G846G1854

Spiritual Blindness

35When Jesus heard what had happened, he found the man and asked, "Do you believe in the Son of Man?"G2424G191G3754G1544G846G1854G2532G2147G846G2036G846G4100G4771G4100G1519G5207G2316 36The man answered, "Who is he, sir? I want to believe in him."G1565G611G2532G2036G5101G2076G2962G2443G4100G1519G846 37"You have seen him," Jesus said, "and he is speaking to you!"G1161G2424G2036G846G3708G2532G3708G846G2532G2076G1565G2980G3326G4675 38"Yes, Lord, I believe!" the man said. And he worshiped Jesus.G1161G5346G2962G4100G2532G4352G846 39Then Jesus told him, "I entered this world to render judgment—to give sight to the blind and to show those who think they see that they are blind."G2532G2424G2036G1519G2917G1473G2064G1519G5126G2889G2443G991G3361G991G2532G991G1096G5185 40Some Pharisees who were standing nearby heard him and asked, "Are you saying we're blind?"G2532G1537G5330G3588G5607G3326G846G191G5023G2532G2036G846G3361G2070G2249G5185G2532 41"If you were blind, you wouldn't be guilty," Jesus replied. "But you remain guilty because you claim you can see.G2424G2036G846G1487G2258G5185G302G2192G3756G266G1161G3568G3004G3754G991G3767G5216G266G3306
