Jesus Sends Out His Disciples

10The Lord now chose seventy-two other disciples and sent them ahead in pairs to all the towns and places he planned to visit.G1161G3326G5023G2962G322G2087G1440G2532G2532G649G846G303G1417G4253G846G4383G1519G3956G4172G2532G5117G3757G3739G846G3195G2064 2These were his instructions to them: "The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.G3767G3004G4314G846G2326G3303G4183G1161G2040G3641G1189G3767G2962G2326G3704G1544G2040G1519G846G2326 3Now go, and remember that I am sending you out as lambs among wolves.G5217G2400G1473G649G5209G649G5613G704G1722G3319G3074 4Don't take any money with you, nor a traveler's bag, nor an extra pair of sandals. And don't stop to greet anyone on the road.G941G3361G905G3361G4082G3366G5266G2532G782G3367G2596G3598 5"Whenever you enter someone's home, first say, 'May God's peace be on this house.'G1161G1519G3739G302G3614G1525G4412G3004G1515G5129G3624 6If those who live there are peaceful, the blessing will stand; if they are not, the blessing will return to you.G2532G1437G3303G5207G1515G5600G1563G5216G1515G1879G1909G846G1490G344G1909G5209G344 7Don't move around from home to home. Stay in one place, eating and drinking what they provide. Don't hesitate to accept hospitality, because those who work deserve their pay.G1161G1722G846G3614G3306G2068G2532G4095G3844G846G3844G1063G2040G2076G514G846G3408G3327G3361G1537G3614G1519G3614 8"If you enter a town and it welcomes you, eat whatever is set before you.G2532G1519G1161G3739G302G4172G1525G2532G1209G5209G2068G3908G5213 9Heal the sick, and tell them, 'The Kingdom of God is near you now.'G2532G2323G772G1722G846G2532G3004G846G932G2316G1448G1909G5209 10But if a town refuses to welcome you, go out into its streets and say,G1161G1519G3739G302G4172G1525G2532G1209G5209G3361G1831G1519G4113G846G2036 11'We wipe even the dust of your town from our feet to show that we have abandoned you to your fate. And know this—the Kingdom of God is near!'G2532G2868G1537G5216G4172G3588G2853G2254G631G5213G4133G1097G5124G3754G932G2316G1448G1909G5209 12I assure you, even wicked Sodom will be better off than such a town on judgment day.G1161G3004G5213G3754G2071G414G1722G1565G2250G4670G2228G1565G4172 13"What sorrow awaits you, Korazin and Bethsaida! For if the miracles I did in you had been done in wicked Tyre and Sidon, their people would have repented of their sins long ago, clothing themselves in burlap and throwing ashes on their heads to show their remorse.G3759G4671G5523G3759G4671G966G3754G1487G1411G1096G1722G5184G2532G4605G3588G1096G1722G5213G3340G3819G3340G2521G302G1722G4526G2532G4700 14Yes, Tyre and Sidon will be better off on judgment day than you.G4133G2071G414G5184G2532G4605G1722G2920G2228G5213 15And you people of Capernaum, will you be honored in heaven? No, you will go down to the place of the dead."G2532G4771G2584G3588G5312G2193G3772G2601G2193G86 16Then he said to the disciples, "Anyone who accepts your message is also accepting me. And anyone who rejects you is rejecting me. And anyone who rejects me is rejecting God, who sent me."G191G5216G191G1700G2532G114G5209G114G1691G1161G114G1691G114G649G3165 17When the seventy-two disciples returned, they joyfully reported to him, "Lord, even the demons obey us when we use your name!"G1161G1440G5290G3326G5479G3004G2962G2532G1140G5293G2254G1722G4675G3686 18"Yes," he told them, "I saw Satan fall from heaven like lightning!G1161G2036G846G2334G4567G5613G796G4098G1537G3772 19Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you.G2400G1325G5213G1849G3961G1883G3789G2532G4651G2532G1909G3956G1411G2190G2532G3762G91G3364G91G91G5209 20But don't rejoice because evil spirits obey you; rejoice because your names are registered in heaven."G4133G1722G5129G5463G3361G3754G4151G5293G5213G1161G3123G5463G3754G5216G3686G1125G1722G3772

Jesus’ Prayer of Thanksgiving

21At that same time Jesus was filled with the joy of the Holy Spirit, and he said, "O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank you for hiding these things from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike. Yes, Father, it pleased you to do it this way.G1722G846G5610G2424G21G4151G2532G2036G1843G4671G3962G2962G3772G2532G1093G3754G613G5023G575G4680G2532G4908G2532G601G846G3516G3483G3962G3754G3779G1096G2107G1715G4675G1715 22"My Father has entrusted everything to me. No one truly knows the Son except the Father, and no one truly knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him."G3956G3860G3427G5259G3450G3962G2532G3762G1097G5101G5207G2076G1508G3962G2532G5101G3962G2076G1508G5207G2532G3739G1437G5207G1014G601 23Then when they were alone, he turned to the disciples and said, "Blessed are the eyes that see what you have seen.G2532G4762G4314G3101G2036G2398G2596G3107G3788G3588G991G3739G991 24I tell you, many prophets and kings longed to see what you see, but they didn't see it. And they longed to hear what you hear, but they didn't hear it."G1063G3004G5213G3754G4183G4396G2532G935G2309G1492G3739G5210G991G2532G1492G3756G1492G2532G191G3739G191G2532G191G3756G191

The Most Important Commandment

25One day an expert in religious law stood up to test Jesus by asking him this question: "Teacher, what should I do to inherit eternal life?"G2532G2400G5100G3544G450G2532G1598G846G3004G1320G5101G4160G2816G166G2222 26Jesus replied, "What does the law of Moses say? How do you read it?"G1161G2036G4314G846G5101G1125G1722G3551G4459G314 27The man answered, "'You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.' And, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'"G1161G611G2036G25G2962G4675G2316G1537G3650G4675G2588G2532G1537G3650G4675G5590G2532G1537G3650G4675G2479G2532G1537G3650G4675G1271G2532G4675G4139G5613G4572 28"Right!" Jesus told him. "Do this and you will live!"G1161G2036G846G611G3723G5124G4160G2532G2198 29The man wanted to justify his actions, so he asked Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?"G1161G2309G1344G1438G2036G4314G2424G2532G5101G2076G3450G4139

Parable of the Good Samaritan

30Jesus replied with a story: "A Jewish man was traveling on a trip from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he was attacked by bandits. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him up, and left him half dead beside the road.G1161G2424G5274G2036G5100G444G2597G575G2419G1519G2410G2532G4045G3027G3739G2532G1562G846G1562G2532G4127G2007G565G863G2253G5177 31"By chance a priest came along. But when he saw the man lying there, he crossed to the other side of the road and passed him by.G1161G2596G4795G2597G5100G2409G1722G1565G3598G2532G1492G846G492 32A Temple assistant walked over and looked at him lying there, but he also passed by on the other side.G1161G3668G2532G3019G1096G2596G5117G2064G2532G1492G492 33"Then a despised Samaritan came along, and when he saw the man, he felt compassion for him.G1161G5100G4541G3593G2064G2596G846G2532G1492G846G4697 34Going over to him, the Samaritan soothed his wounds with olive oil and wine and bandaged them. Then he put the man on his own donkey and took him to an inn, where he took care of him.G2532G4334G2611G846G5134G2022G1637G2532G3631G1161G1913G846G1909G2398G2934G71G846G1519G3829G2532G1959G846 35The next day he handed the innkeeper two silver coins, telling him, 'Take care of this man. If his bill runs higher than this, I'll pay you the next time I'm here.'G2532G1909G839G1831G1544G1417G1220G1325G3830G2532G2036G846G1959G846G2532G3748G302G4325G3165G1722G1880G1473G591G4671 36"Now which of these three would you say was a neighbor to the man who was attacked by bandits?" Jesus asked.G5101G3767G5130G5140G1380G4671G1096G4139G1706G1519G3027 37The man replied, "The one who showed him mercy." Then Jesus said, "Yes, now go and do the same."G1161G2036G4160G1656G3326G846G3767G2036G2424G846G4198G2532G4160G4771G3668

Jesus Visits Martha and Mary

38As Jesus and the disciples continued on their way to Jerusalem, they came to a certain village where a woman named Martha welcomed him into her home.G1161G1096G1722G846G4198G2532G846G1525G1519G5100G2968G1161G5100G1135G3686G3136G5264G846G1519G846G3624 39Her sister, Mary, sat at the Lord's feet, listening to what he taught.G2532G3592G2258G79G2564G3137G3739G2532G3869G3844G2424G4228G191G846G3056 40But Martha was distracted by the big dinner she was preparing. She came to Jesus and said, "Lord, doesn't it seem unfair to you that my sister just sits here while I do all the work? Tell her to come and help me."G1161G3136G4049G4012G4183G1248G1161G2186G2036G2962G3199G4671G3756G3199G3754G3450G79G2641G3165G1247G3441G2036G846G3767G2443G4878G3427 41But the Lord said to her, "My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details!G1161G2424G611G2036G846G3136G3136G3309G2532G5182G4012G4183 42There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her."G1161G1520G2076G5532G1161G3137G1586G18G3310G3748G851G3756G851G575G846
