New Living Translation Help

Greetings from Paul

1This letter is from Paul, a slave of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ. I have been sent to proclaim faith to those God has chosen and to teach them to know the truth that shows them how to live godly lives.G3972G1401G2316G1161G652G2424G5547G2596G4102G2316G1588G2532G1922G225G3588G2596G2150 2This truth gives them confidence that they have eternal life, which God—who does not lie—promised them before the world began.G1909G1680G166G2222G3739G2316G893G1861G4253G166G5550 3And now at just the right time he has revealed this message, which we announce to everyone. It is by the command of God our Savior that I have been entrusted with this work for him.G1161G5319G2398G2540G5319G846G3056G1722G2782G3739G4100G1473G2596G2003G2316G2257G4990 4I am writing to Titus, my true son in the faith that we share. May God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior give you grace and peace.G5103G1103G5043G2596G2839G4102G5485G1656G1515G575G2316G3962G2532G2962G2424G5547G2257G4990

Titus’s Work in Crete

5I left you on the island of Crete so you could complete our work there and appoint elders in each town as I instructed you.G5127G5484G2641G4571G1722G2914G2443G1930G3007G2532G2525G4245G2596G4172G5613G1473G1299G4671 6An elder must live a blameless life. He must be faithful to his wife, and his children must be believers who don't have a reputation for being wild or rebellious.G1536G2076G410G435G3391G1135G2192G4103G5043G3361G1722G2724G810G2228G506 7An elder is a manager of God's household, so he must live a blameless life. He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered; he must not be a heavy drinker, violent, or dishonest with money.G1063G1985G1163G1511G410G5613G3623G2316G3361G829G3361G3711G3361G3943G3361G4131G3361G146 8Rather, he must enjoy having guests in his home, and he must love what is good. He must live wisely and be just. He must live a devout and disciplined life.G235G5382G5358G4998G1342G3741G1468 9He must have a strong belief in the trustworthy message he was taught; then he will be able to encourage others with wholesome teaching and show those who oppose it where they are wrong.G472G4103G3056G2596G1322G2443G5600G1415G1722G5198G1319G2532G3870G2532G1651G483 10For there are many rebellious people who engage in useless talk and deceive others. This is especially true of those who insist on circumcision for salvation.G1063G1526G4183G506G2532G3151G2532G5423G3122G1537G4061 11They must be silenced, because they are turning whole families away from the truth by their false teaching. And they do it only for money.G3739G1993G1163G1993G3748G396G3650G3624G1321G3739G1163G3361G5484G150G2771G5484 12Even one of their own men, a prophet from Crete, has said about them, "The people of Crete are all liars, cruel animals, and lazy gluttons."G5100G1537G846G4396G846G2398G2036G2912G104G5583G2556G2342G692G1064 13This is true. So reprimand them sternly to make them strong in the faith.G3778G3141G2076G227G1223G3739G156G1651G846G664G2443G5198G1722G4102 14They must stop listening to Jewish myths and the commands of people who have turned away from the truth.G3361G4337G2451G3454G2532G1785G444G654G225 15Everything is pure to those whose hearts are pure. But nothing is pure to those who are corrupt and unbelieving, because their minds and consciences are corrupted.G2513G3956G3303G2513G1161G3392G2532G571G3762G2513G235G2532G846G3563G2532G4893G3392 16Such people claim they know God, but they deny him by the way they live. They are detestable and disobedient, worthless for doing anything good.G3670G1492G2316G1161G2041G720G5607G947G2532G545G2532G4314G3956G18G2041G96
