Epilogue: Jesus Appears to Seven Disciples

21Later, Jesus appeared again to the disciples beside the Sea of Galilee. This is how it happened.G3326G5023G2424G5319G1438G3825G3101G1909G2281G5085G1161G3779G5319 2Several of the disciples were there—Simon Peter, Thomas (nicknamed the Twin), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples.G2258G3674G4613G4074G2532G2381G3004G1324G2532G3482G575G2580G1056G2532G3588G2199G2532G1417G243G1537G846G3101 3Simon Peter said, "I'm going fishing." "We'll come, too," they all said. So they went out in the boat, but they caught nothing all night.G4613G4074G3004G846G5217G232G3004G846G2249G2532G2064G4862G4671G1831G2532G305G1519G4143G2117G2532G1722G1565G3571G4084G3762 4At dawn Jesus was standing on the beach, but the disciples couldn't see who he was.G1161G4405G1096G2235G1096G2424G2476G1519G123G3305G3101G1492G3756G3754G2076G2424 5He called out, "Fellows, have you caught any fish?" "No," they replied.G3767G2424G3004G846G3813G2192G3387G4371G611G846G3756 6Then he said, "Throw out your net on the right-hand side of the boat, and you'll get some!" So they did, and they couldn't haul in the net because there were so many fish in it.G1161G2036G846G906G1350G1519G1188G3313G4143G2532G2147G906G3767G2532G3765G2480G3765G2480G1670G846G575G4128G2486 7Then the disciple Jesus loved said to Peter, "It's the Lord!" When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his tunic (for he had stripped for work), jumped into the water, and headed to shore.G3767G1565G3101G3739G2424G25G3004G4074G2076G2962G3767G4613G4074G191G3754G2076G2962G1241G1903G1063G2258G1131G2532G906G1438G1519G2281 8The others stayed with the boat and pulled the loaded net to the shore, for they were only about a hundred yards from shore.G1161G243G3101G2064G4142G1063G2258G3756G3112G575G1093G235G5613G575G1250G4083G4951G1350G2486 9When they got there, they found breakfast waiting for them—fish cooking over a charcoal fire, and some bread.G5613G3767G576G1519G1093G991G439G2532G3795G2749G1945G2532G740 10"Bring some of the fish you've just caught," Jesus said.G2424G3004G846G5342G575G3795G3739G4084G3568G4084 11So Simon Peter went aboard and dragged the net to the shore. There were 153 large fish, and yet the net hadn't torn.G4613G4074G305G2532G1670G1350G1909G1093G3324G3173G2486G1540G4004G5140G2532G5118G5607G3756G1350G4977 12"Now come and have some breakfast!" Jesus said. None of the disciples dared to ask him, "Who are you?" They knew it was the Lord.G2424G3004G846G1205G709G1161G3762G3101G5111G1833G846G5101G1488G4771G1492G3754G2076G2962 13Then Jesus served them the bread and the fish.G2424G3767G2064G2532G2983G740G2532G1325G846G2532G3795G3668 14This was the third time Jesus had appeared to his disciples since he had been raised from the dead.G5124G5319G2235G5154G2424G5319G846G3101G1453G1537G3498 15After breakfast Jesus asked Simon Peter, "Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?" "Yes, Lord," Peter replied, "you know I love you." "Then feed my lambs," Jesus told him.G3767G3753G709G2424G3004G4613G4074G4613G2495G25G3165G4119G5130G3004G846G3483G2962G4771G1492G3754G5368G4571G3004G846G1006G3450G721 16Jesus repeated the question: "Simon son of John, do you love me?" "Yes, Lord," Peter said, "you know I love you." "Then take care of my sheep," Jesus said.G3004G846G3825G1208G4613G2495G25G3165G3004G846G3483G2962G4771G1492G3754G5368G4571G3004G846G4165G3450G4263 17A third time he asked him, "Simon son of John, do you love me?" Peter was hurt that Jesus asked the question a third time. He said, "Lord, you know everything. You know that I love you." Jesus said, "Then feed my sheep.G3004G846G5154G4613G2495G5368G3165G4074G3076G3754G2036G846G5154G5368G3165G2532G2036G846G2962G4771G1492G3956G4771G1097G3754G5368G4571G2424G3004G846G1006G3450G4263 18"I tell you the truth, when you were young, you were able to do as you liked; you dressed yourself and went wherever you wanted to go. But when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and others will dress you and take you where you don't want to go."G281G281G3004G4671G3753G2258G3501G2224G4572G2532G4043G3699G2309G1161G3752G1095G1614G4675G5495G2532G243G2224G4571G2532G5342G3699G2309G3756 19Jesus said this to let him know by what kind of death he would glorify God. Then Jesus told him, "Follow me."G1161G5124G2036G4591G4169G2288G1392G2316G2532G2036G5124G3004G846G190G3427 20Peter turned around and saw behind them the disciple Jesus loved—the one who had leaned over to Jesus during supper and asked, "Lord, who will betray you?"G1161G4074G1994G991G3101G3739G2424G25G190G3739G2532G377G1909G846G4738G1722G1173G2532G2036G2962G5101G2076G3860G4571 21Peter asked Jesus, "What about him, Lord?"G4074G1492G5126G3004G2424G2962G1161G5101G3778 22Jesus replied, "If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? As for you, follow me."G2424G3004G846G1437G2309G846G3306G2193G2064G5101G4314G4571G190G4771G3427 23So the rumor spread among the community of believers that this disciple wouldn't die. But that isn't what Jesus said at all. He only said, "If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you?"G3767G1831G3778G3056G1831G1519G80G3754G1565G3101G599G3756G599G2532G2424G2036G3756G846G3754G599G3756G599G235G1437G2309G846G3306G2193G2064G5101G4314G4571 24This disciple is the one who testifies to these events and has recorded them here. And we know that his account of these things is accurate.G3778G2076G3101G3588G3140G4012G5130G2532G1125G5023G2532G1492G3754G846G3141G2076G227 25Jesus also did many other things. If they were all written down, I suppose the whole world could not contain the books that would be written.G1161G2076G2532G4183G243G3745G2424G4160G3748G1437G1125G2596G1520G3633G3761G2889G846G3761G5562G975G1125G281
