A Father’s Exhortation: Acquire Wisdom

My childc, listen when your father corrects you. Don’t neglect your mother’s instruction.H1121H8085H4148H1H5203H8451H517
What you learn from them will crown you with grace and be a chain of honor around your neck.H3880H2580H7218H6060H1621
My child, if sinners entice you, turn your back on them!H1121H2400H6601H14
They may say, “Come and join us. Let’s hide and kill someone! Just for fun, let’s ambush the innocent!H559H3212H693H1818H6845H5355H2600
Let’s swallow them alive, like the gravec; let’s swallow them whole, like those who go down to the pit of death.H1104H2416H7585H8549H3381H953
Think of the great things we’ll get! We’ll fill our houses with all the stuff we take.H4672H3368H1952H4390H1004H7998
Come, throw in your lot with us; we’ll all share the loot.”H5307H1486H8432H259H3599
My child, don’t go along with them! Stay far away from their paths.H1121H3212H1870H4513H7272H5410
They rush to commit evil deeds. They hurry to commit murder.H7272H7323H7451H4116H8210H1818
If a bird sees a trap being set, it knows to stay away.H2600H7568H2219H5869H1167H3671
But these people set an ambush for themselves; they are trying to get themselves killed.H693H1818H6845H5315
Such is the fate of all who are greedy for money; it robs them of life.H734H1214H1215H3947H5315H1167

Wisdom Shouts in the Streets

Wisdom shouts in the streets. She cries out in the public square.H2454H7442H2351H5414H6963H7339
She calls to the crowds along the main street, to those gathered in front of the city gate.H7121H7218H1993H6607H8179H5892H559H561
“How long, you simpletons, will you insist on being simpleminded? How long will you mockers relish your mocking? How long will you fools hate knowledge?H6612H157H6612H3887H2530H3944H3684H8130H1847
Come and listen to my counsel. I’ll share my heart with you and make you wise.H7725H8433H5042H7307H3045H1697
“I called you so often, but you wouldn’t come. I reached out to you, but you paid no attention.H7121H3985H5186H3027H7181
You ignored my advice and rejected the correction I offered.H6544H6098H14H8433
So I will laugh when you are in trouble! I will mock you when disaster overtakes you—H7832H343H3932H6343H935
when calamity overtakes you like a storm, when disaster engulfs you like a cyclone, and anguish and distress overwhelm you.H6343H935H7722H7584H343H857H5492H6869H6695H935
“When they cry for help, I will not answer. Though they anxiously search for me, they will not find me.H7121H6030H7836H4672
For they hated knowledge and chose not to fear the Lord.H8130H1847H977H3374H3068
They rejected my advice and paid no attention when I corrected them.H14H6098H5006H8433
Therefore, they must eat the bitter fruit of living their own way, choking on their own schemes.H398H6529H1870H7646H4156
For simpletons turn away from me—to death. Fools are destroyed by their own complacency.H4878H6612H2026H7962H3684H6
But all who listen to me will live in peace, untroubled by fear of harm.”H8085H7931H983H7599H6343H7451

The Benefits of Wisdom

From his mouth come knowledge and understanding.H3068H5414H2451H6310H1847H8394 7He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest. He is a shield to those who walk with integrity.H6845H6845H8454H3477H4043H1980H8537 8He guards the paths of the just and protects those who are faithful to him.H5341H734H4941H8104H1870H2623 9Then you will understand what is right, just, and fair, and you will find the right way to go.H995H6664H4941H4339H2896H4570 10For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will fill you with joy.H2451H935H3820H1847H5276H5315 11Wise choices will watch over you. Understanding will keep you safe.H4209H8104H8394H5341 12Wisdom will save you from evil people, from those whose words are twisted.H5337H1870H7451H376H1696H8419 13These men turn from the right way to walk down dark paths.H5800H734H3476H3212H1870H2822 14They take pleasure in doing wrong, and they enjoy the twisted ways of evil.H8056H6213H7451H1523H8419H7451 15Their actions are crooked, and their ways are wrong.H734H6141H3868H4570 16Wisdom will save you from the immoral woman, from the seductive words of the promiscuous woman.H5337H2114H802H5237H2505H561 17She has abandoned her husband and ignores the covenant she made before God.H5800H441H5271H7911H1285H430 18Entering her house leads to death; it is the road to the gravec.H1004H7743H4194H4570H7496 19The man who visits her is doomed. He will never reach the paths of life.H935H7725H5381H734H2416 20Follow the steps of good men instead, and stay on the paths of the righteous.H3212H1870H2896H8104H734H6662 21For only the godly will live in the land, and those with integrity will remain in it.H3477H7931H776H8549H3498 22But the wicked will be removed from the land, and the treacherous will be uprooted.H7563H3772H776H898H5255
