Jesus Christ Is God’s Son

1Long ago God spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets.G2316G4181G2532G4187G2980G3819G3962G1722G4396
2And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son. God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son he created the universe.G2980G1909G5130G2078G2250G2980G2254G1722G5207G3739G5087G2818G3956G1223G3739G2532G4160G165
3The Son radiates God's own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command. When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven.G3739G5607G541G1391G2532G5481G846G5287G5037G5342G3956G4487G846G1411G4160G2512G1223G1438G4160G2512G2257G266G2523G1722G1188G3172G1722G5308
4This shows that the Son is far greater than the angels, just as the name God gave him is greater than their names.G1096G5118G2909G32G3745G2816G1313G3686G3844G846

The Son Is Greater Than the Angels

5For God never said to any angel what he said to Jesus: "You are my Son. Today I have become your Fatherc." God also said, "I will be his Father, and he will be my Son."G1063G5101G32G2036G4218G4771G1488G3450G5207G4594G1080G1473G1080G4571G2532G3825G1473G2071G1519G846G3962G2532G846G2071G1519G3427G5207
6And when he brought his supreme Son into the world, God saidc, "Let all of God's angels worship him."G1161G3825G3752G1521G4416G1519G3625G3004G2532G4352G3956G32G2316G4352G846
7Regarding the angels, he says, "He sends his angels like the winds, his servants like flames of fire."cG2532G4314G3303G32G3004G4160G846G32G4151G2532G846G3011G5395G4442
8But to the Son he says, "Your throne, O God, endures forever and ever. You rule with a scepter of justice.G1161G4314G5207G4675G2362G2316G1519G165G165G4464G2118G4464G4675G932
9You love justice and hate evil. Therefore, O God, your God has anointed you, pouring out the oil of joy on you more than on anyone else."cG25G1343G2532G3404G458G1223G5124G2316G4675G2316G5548G4571G1637G20G3844G4675G3353
10He also says to the Son, "In the beginning, Lord, you laid the foundation of the earth and made the heavens with your hands.G2532G4771G2962G2596G746G2311G1093G2532G3772G1526G2041G4675G5495
11They will perish, but you remain forever. They will wear out like old clothing.G846G622G1161G4771G1265G2532G3956G3822G5613G2440
12You will fold them up like a cloak and discard them like old clothing. But you are always the same; you will live forever."cG2532G5616G4018G1667G846G1667G2532G236G1161G4771G1488G846G2532G4675G2094G1587G3756G1587
13And God never said to any of the angels, "Sit in the place of honor at my right hand until I humble your enemies, making them a footstool under your feet."cG1161G4314G5101G32G2046G4218G2521G1537G3450G1188G302G2193G5087G4675G2190G4675G5286G4228
14Therefore, angels are only servants—spirits sent to care for people who will inherit salvation.G1526G3780G3956G3010G4151G649G1519G1248G1223G3195G2816G4991

A Warning against Drifting Away

2So we must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it.G1223G5124G2248G1163G4056G4337G191G3379G3901
2For the message God delivered through angels has always stood firm, and every violation of the law and every act of disobedience was punished.G1063G1487G3056G2980G1223G32G1096G949G2532G3956G3847G2532G3876G2983G1738G3405
3So what makes us think we can escape if we ignore this great salvation that was first announced by the Lord Jesus himself and then delivered to us by those who heard him speak?G4459G2249G1628G272G5082G4991G3748G746G2983G2980G1223G2962G950G1519G2248G5259G191
4And God confirmed the message by giving signs and wonders and various miracles and gifts of the Holy Spirit whenever he chose.G2316G4901G5037G4592G2532G5059G2532G4164G1411G2532G3311G40G4151G2596G846G2308

Jesus, the Man

5And furthermore, it is not angels who will control the future world we are talking about.G1063G32G5293G3756G5293G3625G3195G4012G3739G2980
6For in one place the Scriptures say, "What are mere mortals that you should think about them, or a son of manc that you should care for him?G1161G5100G4225G1263G3004G5101G2076G444G3754G3403G846G2228G5207G444G3754G1980G846
7Yet you made them only a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honorc.G1642G846G1024G5100G1642G3844G32G4737G846G1391G2532G5092G2532G2525G846G1909G2041G4675G5495
8You gave them authority over all things."c Now when it says "all things," it means nothing is left out. But we have not yet seen all things put under their authority.G5293G3956G5293G5270G846G4228G1063G1722G5293G3956G5293G846G863G3762G506G846G1161G3568G3708G3768G3956G5293G846
9What we do see is Jesus, who was given a position "a little lower than the angels"; and because he suffered death for us, he is now "crowned with glory and honor." Yes, by God's grace, Jesus tasted death for everyone.G1161G991G2424G3588G1642G1024G5100G1642G3844G32G1223G3804G2288G4737G1391G2532G5092G3704G1089G5485G2316G1089G2288G5228G3956
10God, for whom and through whom everything was made, chose to bring many children into glory. And it was only right that he should make Jesus, through his suffering, a perfect leader, fit to bring them into their salvation.G1063G4241G846G1223G3739G3956G2532G1223G3739G3956G71G4183G5207G1519G1391G5048G747G846G4991G5048G1223G3804
11So now Jesus and the ones he makes holy have the same Father. That is why Jesus is not ashamed to call them his brothers and sistersc.G1063G5037G37G2532G37G3956G1537G1520G1223G3739G156G1870G3756G1870G2564G846G80
12For he said to God, "I will proclaim your name to my brothers and sisters. I will praise you among your assembled people."cG3004G518G4675G3686G3450G80G1722G3319G1577G5214G4571
13He also said, "I will put my trust in him," that is, "I and the children God has given me."cG2532G3825G1473G2071G3982G1909G846G2532G3825G2400G1473G2532G3813G3739G2316G1325G3427
14Because God's children are human beings—made of flesh and blood—the Son also became flesh and blood. For only as a human being could he die, and only by dying could he break the power of the devil, who hadc the power of death.G1893G3767G3813G2841G4561G2532G129G3348G2532G846G3898G3348G846G2443G1223G2288G2673G2192G2904G2288G5123G1228
15Only in this way could he set free all who have lived their lives as slaves to the fear of dying.G2532G525G5128G3745G1223G5401G2288G2258G3956G2198G1777G1397
16We also know that the Son did not come to help angels; he came to help the descendants of Abraham.G1063G1222G1949G3756G1949G32G235G1949G4690G11
17Therefore, it was necessary for him to be made in every respect like us, his brothers and sistersc, so that he could be our merciful and faithful High Priest before God. Then he could offer a sacrifice that would take away the sins of the people.G3606G2596G3956G3784G3666G80G2443G1096G1655G2532G4103G749G4314G2316G1519G2433G266G2992
18Since he himself has gone through suffering and testing, he is able to help us when we are being tested.G1063G1722G3739G3958G846G3958G3985G1410G997G3985
