Remembering Israel’s Journey

33This is the route the Israelites followed as they marched out of Egypt under the leadership of Moses and Aaron.H4550H1121H3478H3318H776H4714H6635H3027H4872H175 2At the LORD's direction, Moses kept a written record of their progress. These are the stages of their march, identified by the different places where they stopped along the way.H4872H3789H4161H4550H6310H3068H4550H4161 3They set out from the city of Rameses in early spring—on the fifteenth day of the first monthc—on the morning after the first Passover celebration. This happened in midsummer, on the first day of the fifth monthc of the fortieth year after Israel's departure from Egypt.H175H3548H5927H2022H2023H6310H3068H4191H705H8141H1121H3478H3318H776H4714H259H2549H2320 39Aaron was 123 years old when he died there on Mount Hor.H175H3967H6242H7969H8141H1121H4194H2022H2023 40At that time the Canaanite king of Arad, who lived in the Negev in the land of Canaan, heard that the people of Israel were approaching his land.H4428H6166H3669H3427H5045H776H3667H8085H935H1121H3478 41Meanwhile, the Israelites left Mount Hor and camped at Zalmonah.H5265H2022H2023H2583H6758 42Then they left Zalmonah and camped at Punon.H5265H6758H2583H6325 43They left Punon and camped at Oboth.H5265H6325H2583H88 44They left Oboth and camped at Iye-abarim on the border of Moab.H5265H88H2583H5863H1366H4124 45They left Iye-abarimc and camped at Dibon-gad.H5265H5864H2583H1769 46They left Dibon-gad and camped at Almon-diblathaim.H5265H1769H2583H5963 47They left Almon-diblathaim and camped in the mountains east of the riverc, near Mount Nebo.H5265H5963H2583H2022H5682H6440H5015 48They left the mountains east of the river and camped on the plains of Moab beside the Jordan River, across from Jericho.H5265H2022H5682H2583H6160H4124H3383H3405 49Along the Jordan River they camped from Beth-jeshimoth as far as the meadows of Acaciac on the plains of Moab.H2583H3383H1020H63H6160H4124 50While they were camped near the Jordan River on the plains of Moab opposite Jericho, the LORD said to Moses,H3068H1696H4872H6160H4124H3383H3405H559 51"Give the following instructions to the people of Israel: When you cross the Jordan River into the land of Canaan,H1696H1121H3478H559H5674H3383H776H3667 52you must drive out all the people living there. You must destroy all their carved and molten images and demolish all their pagan shrines.H3423H3427H776H6440H6H4906H6H4541H6754H8045H1116 53Take possession of the land and settle in it, because I have given it to you to occupy.H3423H776H3427H5414H776H3423 54You must distribute the land among the clans by sacred lot and in proportion to their size. A larger portion of land will be allotted to each of the larger clans, and a smaller portion will be allotted to each of the smaller clans. The decision of the sacred lot is final. In this way, the portions of land will be divided among your ancestral tribes.H5157H776H1486H5157H4940H7227H7235H5159H4592H4591H5159H1486H3318H4294H1H5157 55But if you fail to drive out the people who live in the land, those who remain will be like splinters in your eyes and thorns in your sides. They will harass you in the land where you live.H3423H3427H776H6440H3498H7899H5869H6796H6654H6887H776H3427 56And I will do to you what I had planned to do to them."H6213H1819H6213

Boundaries of the Land

34Then the LORD said to Moses,H3068H1696H4872H559 2"Give these instructions to the Israelites: When you come into the land of Canaan, which I am giving you as your special possession, these will be the boundaries.H6680H1121H3478H559H935H776H3667H776H5307H5159H776H3667H1367 3The southern portion of your country will extend from the wilderness of Zin, along the edge of Edom. The southern boundary will begin on the east at the Dead Seac.H5045H6285H4057H6790H3027H123H5045H1366H7097H4417H3220H6924 4It will then run south past Scorpion Passc in the direction of Zin. Its southernmost point will be Kadesh-barnea, from which it will go to Hazar-addar, and on to Azmon.H1366H5437H5045H4608H4610H5674H6790H8444H5045H6947H3318H2692H5674H6111 5From Azmon the boundary will turn toward the Brook of Egypt and end at the Mediterranean Seac.H1366H5437H6111H5158H4714H8444H3220 6"Your western boundary will be the coastline of the Mediterranean Sea.H3220H1366H1419H3220H1366H3220H1366 7"Your northern boundary will begin at the Mediterranean Sea and run east to Mount Hor,H6828H1366H1419H3220H8376H2022H2023 8then to Lebo-hamath, and on through ZedadH2022H2023H8376H935H2574H8444H1366H6657 9and Ziphron to Hazar-enan. This will be your northern boundary.H1366H3318H2202H8444H2704H6828H1366 10"The eastern boundary will start at Hazar-enan and run south to Shepham,H184H6924H1366H2704H8221 11then down to Riblah on the east side of Ain. From there the boundary will run down along the eastern edge of the Sea of Galileec,H1366H3381H8221H7247H6924H5871H1366H3381H4229H3802H3220H3672H6924 12and then along the Jordan River to the Dead Sea. These are the boundaries of your land."H1366H3381H3383H8444H4417H3220H776H1367H5439 13Then Moses told the Israelites, "This territory is the homeland you are to divide among yourselves by sacred lot. The LORD has commanded that the land be divided among the nine and a half remaining tribes.H4872H6680H1121H3478H559H776H5157H1486H3068H6680H5414H8672H4294H2677H4294 14The families of the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and half the tribe of Manasseh have already received their grants of landH4294H1121H7206H1004H1H4294H1121H1425H1004H1H3947H2677H4294H4519H3947H5159 15on the east side of the Jordan River, across from Jericho toward the sunrise."H8147H4294H2677H4294H3947H5159H5676H3383H3405H6924H4217

Leaders to Divide the Land

16And the LORD said to Moses,H3068H1696H4872H559 17"Eleazar the priest and Joshua son of Nun are the men designated to divide the grants of land among the people.H8034H582H5157H776H499H3548H3091H1121H5126 18Enlist one leader from each tribe to help them with the task.H3947H259H5387H4294H5157H776H5157 19These are the tribes and the names of the leaders: Judah Caleb son of JephunnehH8034H582H4294H3063H3612H1121H3312 20Simeon Shemuel son of AmmihudH4294H1121H8095H8050H1121H5989 21Benjamin Elidad son of KislonH4294H1144H449H1121H3692 22Dan Bukki son of JogliH5387H4294H1121H1835H1231H1121H3020 23Manasseh son of Joseph Hanniel son of EphodH5387H1121H3130H4294H1121H4519H2592H1121H641 24Ephraim son of Joseph Kemuel son of ShiphtanH5387H4294H1121H669H7055H1121H8204 25Zebulun Elizaphan son of ParnachH5387H4294H1121H2074H469H1121H6535 26Issachar Paltiel son of AzzanH5387H4294H1121H3485H6409H1121H5821 27Asher Ahihud son of ShelomiH5387H4294H1121H836H282H1121H8015 28Naphtali Pedahel son of AmmihudH5387H4294H1121H5321H6300H1121H5989 29These are the men the LORD has appointed to divide the grants of land in Canaan among the Israelites."H3068H6680H5157H1121H3478H776H3667

51[For the choir director: A psalm of David, regarding the time Nathan the prophet came to him after David had committed adultery with Bathsheba.] Have mercy on me, O God, because of your unfailing love. Because of your great compassion, blot out the stain of my sins.H5329H4210H1732H5416H5030H935H935H1339H2603H430H2617H7230H7356H4229H6588 2Wash me clean from my guilt. Purify me from my sin.H3526H7235H5771H2891H2403 3For I recognize my rebellion; it haunts me day and night.H3045H6588H2403H8548 4Against you, and you alone, have I sinned; I have done what is evil in your sight. You will be proved right in what you say, and your judgment against me is justc.H2398H6213H7451H5869H6663H1696H2135H8199 5For I was born a sinner—yes, from the moment my mother conceived me.H2342H5771H2399H517H3179 6But you desire honesty from the wombc, teaching me wisdom even there.H2654H571H2910H5640H3045H2451 7Purify me from my sinsc, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.H2398H231H2891H3526H3835H7950 8Oh, give me back my joy again; you have broken me—now let me rejoice.H8085H8342H8057H6106H1794H1523 9Don’t keep looking at my sins. Remove the stain of my guilt.H5641H6440H2399H4229H5771 10Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me.H1254H2889H3820H430H2318H3559H7307H7130 11Do not banish me from your presence, and don’t take your Holy Spiritc from me.H7993H6440H3947H6944H7307 12Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and make me willing to obey you.H7725H8342H3468H5564H5081H7307 13Then I will teach your ways to rebels, and they will return to you.H3925H6586H1870H2400H7725 14Forgive me for shedding blood, O God who saves; then I will joyfully sing of your forgiveness.H5337H1818H430H430H8668H3956H7442H6666 15Unseal my lips, O Lord, that my mouth may praise you.H136H6605H8193H6310H5046H8416 16You do not desire a sacrifice, or I would offer one. You do not want a burnt offering.H2654H2077H5414H7521H5930 17The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit. You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God.H2077H430H7665H7307H7665H1794H3820H430H959 18Look with favor on Zion and help her; rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.H3190H7522H6726H1129H2346H3389 19Then you will be pleased with sacrifices offered in the right spirit—with burnt offerings and whole burnt offerings. Then bulls will again be sacrificed on your altar.H2654H2077H6664H5930H3632H5930H5927H6499H4196
