CODEX VATICANUS

One of the most important manuscripts of the Bible in Greek. Produced around the middle of the 4th century and housed in the Vatican Library at least since the 15th century, Vaticanus (siglum B) originally included the entire OT and NT and the Apocrypha or Deuterocanonicals (the books of Maccabees were omitted, apparently inadvertently, and it now lacks the first 46 chapters of Genesis, about 30 psalms, the end of Hebrews, the Pastoral Epistles, and Revelation). In Codex B the General Epistles follow the book of Acts (and therefore precede Paul’s letters), and both the longer ending of Mark (16:9-19) and John 7:538:11 are missing. Vaticanus is one of the best representatives of the Alexandrian family of manuscripts, the most reliable ancient recension of the biblical text. It is also an important witness to the origin and growth of the LXX.

Prayer Tents is a Christian mission organization that serves Christians around the world and their local bodies to make disciples ("evangelize") more effectively in their communities. Prayer Tents provides resources to enable Christians to form discipleship-focused small groups and make their gatherings known so that other "interested" people may participate and experience Christ in their midst. Our Vision is to make disciples in all nations through the local churches so that anyone seeking God can come to know Him through relationships with other Christians near them.
