EGYPT, BROOK OF

A brook or wadi (so NRSV; Heb. naal mirayim) that formed the southernmost border of Canaan (Num. 34:5), the tribe of Judah (Josh. 15:4, 47), and all of Israel (1 Kgs. 8:65 = 2 Chr. 7:8) and during the day of the Lord (Isa. 27:12; Ezek. 47:19; 48:28). It may have served as the border between Palestine and Egypt (2 Kgs. 24:7). Elsewhere the Shihor (Josh. 13:3; 1 Chr. 13:5) and the brook of the Arabah (Amos 6:14) are designated as the southern border of Israel. The Brook of Egypt should be identified with Wadi el-ʿArish, which flows from the Sinai entering the Mediterranean S of Raphia and Gaza.

Prayer Tents is a Christian mission organization that serves Christians around the world and their local bodies to make disciples ("evangelize") more effectively in their communities. Prayer Tents provides resources to enable Christians to form discipleship-focused small groups and make their gatherings known so that other "interested" people may participate and experience Christ in their midst. Our Vision is to make disciples in all nations through the local churches so that anyone seeking God can come to know Him through relationships with other Christians near them.
