COMMISSION, GREAT

The risen Jesus’ charge to his followers to “go and make disciples of all nations” (Matt. 28:18-20). This task of drawing Gentiles as well as Jews into Christian discipleship involves baptizing them and instructing them in Jesus’ teachings. The command is undergirded by Jesus’ assertion that he possesses divine authority, and is supported by the promise of Jesus’ presence with his followers “to the end of the age.” Parallels or allusions to the Great Commission are present in several strands of NT tradition (Mark 16:15; Luke 24:47-48; John 20:21; Acts 1:8; cf. Mark 13:10; Matt. 24:14).

Prayer Tents is a Christian mission organization that serves Christians around the world and their local bodies to make disciples ("evangelize") more effectively in their communities. Prayer Tents provides resources to enable Christians to form discipleship-focused small groups and make their gatherings known so that other "interested" people may participate and experience Christ in their midst. Our Vision is to make disciples in all nations through the local churches so that anyone seeking God can come to know Him through relationships with other Christians near them.
