BARTHOLOMEW THE APOSTLE, BOOK OF

An apocryphal writing from the 5th or 6th century, existing only in several Coptic manuscripts of the medieval period. Also known as the Book of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, by Bartholomew the Apostle, the work includes, in haphazard order, stories about the risen Christ and his descent into hell to redeem, among others, Adam. “Doubting” Thomas appears, along with his son Siophanes, whom Thomas raises from the dead in a faraway country before his own encounter with the resurrected Jesus. The narrator, Bartholomew, commands his son, who first hears these stories, to protect them with great care from heretics and unbelievers.

Prayer Tents is a Christian mission organization that serves Christians around the world and their local bodies to make disciples ("evangelize") more effectively in their communities. Prayer Tents provides resources to enable Christians to form discipleship-focused small groups and make their gatherings known so that other "interested" people may participate and experience Christ in their midst. Our Vision is to make disciples in all nations through the local churches so that anyone seeking God can come to know Him through relationships with other Christians near them.
