ACACIA

A native Mediterranean tree, of which there are five species. Most grow in the Judean desert, the Negeb, and Sinai, while one type (Acacia raddiana) is found in the central and northern parts of Israel. The acacia (Heb. šhiṭṭîm) is a hardy tree, able to withstand the extreme climatic conditions of the desert. Acacia is used for fuel, construction, and shade. The trunk, branches, and leaves also provide food for a variety of animals. Although some types of acacia are shrublike, 4-5 m. (13-16 ft.) in height, others have central trunks and can reach heights of 12-15 m. (40-50 ft.). Acacia wood was used prominently in construction of the tabernacle, ark, and other sacred objects (Exod. 25-27, 30, 35-38).

Prayer Tents is a Christian mission organization that serves Christians around the world and their local bodies to make disciples ("evangelize") more effectively in their communities. Prayer Tents provides resources to enable Christians to form discipleship-focused small groups and make their gatherings known so that other "interested" people may participate and experience Christ in their midst. Our Vision is to make disciples in all nations through the local churches so that anyone seeking God can come to know Him through relationships with other Christians near them.
